This Privacy Policy explains how "Sideways — Rally GPS Navigator" (the "app") collects, uses, and shares information when you use it.
Information we collect
- Account information. An account is required to sign in. You can register with an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple. We store your email address along with basic account metadata.
- Device information. We collect basic device data (model, operating system, identifiers) to diagnose crashes and keep the app stable.
Information we process on your device
- Location. The app reads your device's location while in use to provide navigation and pacenote timing. We do not store your location history. Location is also sent to Mapbox for the search and routing flows described below.
How we use your information
- Authentication. Your account information is used to sign you in and protect your account.
- Reliability. Device and crash data help us fix bugs and keep the app stable.
How we share your information
- Google Cloud. Your account and crash reports are stored on Google Cloud, which hosts our backend infrastructure on our behalf. If you sign in with Google, your authentication is also handled by Google. If you sign in with Apple, your authentication is handled by Apple.
- Mapbox. Mapbox provides the maps, routing, and place search inside the app. We send your current location to Mapbox so search results are ranked by what's near you, and we send the waypoints of a planned route to Mapbox so it can compute the road geometry between them.
Data security
We take appropriate measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, using industry-standard practices such as encryption and secure servers.
Data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@thesideways.app.
Children's privacy
Sideways is not intended for use by children under the age of 18.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, and you are encouraged to review it periodically.
